far away to the humming meadow;

our filthy hands can wash one another's and not one speck will remain

I found myself in Little India today breathing in the exotic but somewhat homely collection of smells that congregate in that busy market - smoky wood, assaulting spice and seductive gardenias. My eyes were wide taking in the sight of proud but dilapidated shophouses; there were reams of beautiful cloths each trying to outdo the other, and long ornaments of aged teak and shiny, young metal alike serenely acting gatekeeper to the paraphernalia threatening to burst out from the stores. Daniel and I were assigned the task of completing the inventory for tomorrow's Grade 9 camp, which the Student Council is organising. Shazz kindly came along with us to help. And so we found ourselves at Mustafa.

We went to Plaza Sing afterwards for an early dinner before continuing our pursuit for game and art materials. Over a tray of half-finished french fries Shazz and Daniel discovered that they were as musically ambitious and talented as the other and began planning collaborations. I'm happy for them - they've been forced to hold back all this while and I hope this newly discovered partnership will give them the avenue and satisfaction they both crave.

I came home to the smell of paint on the void deck. I forgot to mention this - there was an electrical fire in the lift lobby last week and the walls of the ground floor and part of the first storey caught fire. The charred bits were removed and replaced fairly quickly and now they're repainting the place to cover up the damage. I dislike the smell of paint almost as much as I despise cigarette smoke and car exhaust fumes. We're having our new apartment repainted a week before we move in; I hope the odour is gone by then.

Anyway, I'll be gone from the net for a few days. This is going to be a packed weekend.
